Private pool inspections to begin again this year

The City of Côte Saint-Luc will soon begin its annual inspection of the fences surrounding properties with private pools. Our Public Security agents visit every home with a private pool to ensure that the safety rules in our by-law are being respected. There are approximately 275 private pools in Côte Saint-Luc.

Côte Saint-Luc By-law 2217 states that properties with a pool must  have a fence of between six and eight feet around the property, a gate with a self-closing and self-locking device out of the reach of children and capable of keeping the door closed. Owners of any property found to be non conforming are given 72 hours to take corrective measures.

The city will also inspect semi-private pools such as those in apartment buildings and townhouse complexes, for which there are more stringent requirements.
