Côte Saint-Luc to consult public on Kirwan Park renovations on December 3, 2017

Consulation Parc Kirwan Park

The City of Côte Saint-Luc will hold a public consultation on the subject of renovations to Edward J. Kirwan Park on Sunday, December 3 from 3pm to 5pm, at the Aquatic and Community Centre, 5794 Parkhaven Ave.

All residents are invited to participate, however the city requests that people RSVP at consultations@cotesaintluc.org by November 24.

“The city council has designated  Kirwan Park as the next major park to renovate,” Mayor Mitchell Brownstein said. “The public consultation is one of the first steps, but there will be other opportunities for the public to provide input and participate.”

An important part of the consultation is to get feedback on whether to build a large chalet to accommodate multi-purpose use, such as for a camp, or to build a more modest chalet with bathrooms, or something in between. Another key element will be safety, especially around the Wentworth Ave. and Blossom Ave. entrances to the parks.

“While this is subject to feedback from residents, our initial belief is that the focus of the renovations will be on the central part of the park, between the baseball diamonds and the playground,” said Councillor Allan J. Levine.

The budget allocated for the renovation of Kirwan Park will only be decided when the city budget is adopted in December.
