Children’s Services Coordinator - Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library

Position: Children’s Services Coordinator

The City of Côte Saint-Luc is currently searching for a dynamic candidate to join its management team in the role of Children’s Services Coordinator for the City’s Library Department.



Under the supervision of the Manager of Community and Family Services, the Children’s Services Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Developing and animating children’s programs, particularly early literacy programs
  • Providing community outreach support by visiting schools and daycares
  • General management duties


Specific Duties:

  • Helps to supervise the daily operation of the children's library to ensure delivery of the highest quality service
  • Assists children in use of the library and its resources
  • Assists library patrons, primarily parents and children, in finding appropriate materials, answering reference questions and providing reader’s advisory
  • Provides reference service at the adult point of service
  • Maintains statistical records of department use and program attendance
  • Prepares activities for class or group visits as needed
  • Participates in library management meetings and collaborates with other managers/coordinators
  • Maintains the children’s portion of the library’s website
  • Provides outreach services to schools, daycares and preschools, and other community organizations and agencies that serve children and their caregivers.
  • Plans, prepares and animates programs for babies, toddlers and children
  • Selects books and other materials suitable for children
  • Prepares promotional material for children’s programs and services
  • Creates attractive displays to encourage discovery and learning
  • Act as a leader in health and safety matters, including implementing the prevention program, proposing and implementing improvements, and presiding over health and safety breaks.


  • Knowledge of current trends in library service to children
  • Knowledge of materials for children, in both English and French
  • Experience performing children’s programming
  • Ability to supervise others
  • Must be self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and independent judgment
  • Must be able to multitask and handle stressful situations
  • Must have required computer skills
  • Ability to work all hours of library operation, including evenings and weekends
  • Bilingual


Educational Requirement: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies


Schedule:Sunday 2-10pm, Monday – Thursday 9-5pm
