Watermain break at the corner of Mackle and Melling, Friday, Dec. 7 2018

A watermain break occurred at about midnight on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the corner of Mackle Rd. and Melling Ave. The break led to flooding at 10 homes on Eldridge Ave. Water was shut off overnight at 68 homes on Eldridge, as was electrical power as a safety precaution. Power has since been restored.

The city contractor is now in the process of repairing the pipe. We expect water to be restored by 6pm. The city will inform affected homes about whether they need to boil their water or not. If you live in the affected area, look in your mailbox for information.

Côte Saint-Luc Public Security and the city’s water contractor SIMO was on site within 30 minutes of the watermain break overnight. Montreal police and Côte Saint-Luc Public Security went door-to-door overnight to the affected homes to ensure everyone was safe. The Montreal fire department (SIM) and SIMO pumped water out of the affected homes. SIMO also placed information about the water shut off in the mailboxes of the homes who lost water service. In the coming days, the city’s insurance company will visit the affected homes.
