City street sweepers clean things up after a long winter

Street sweeping: spring cleanig in CSL

After a long winter, Côte Saint-Luc Public Works will begin cleaning our roads and sidewalks as the weather warms up.

First, we use a flusher truck to flush the sand and gravel towards side of the road.

Then, later on, one of our two sweepers drives by and sprays water on the ground to moisten the debris. This is done to prevent dust from flying up as the brushes vaccum up the debris.

It can take the sweepers a few passes to collect all the debris left during the winter months.

Because we use water in this process, we have to wait until the temperature is reliably above the freezing mark. It takes about three to four weeks to sweep all our roads and sidewalks, so we should be done by the end of April.
