Public consultation meeting regarding temporary car shelters ("tempos")

On August 13, 2018, the Côte Saint-Luc city council tabled draft bylaw 2217. If the draft bylaw is adopted by the city council, it will allow for residents to erect temporary car shelters (sometimes referred to as “tempos”) on an existing and conforming driveway.

A public consultation meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 7:30pm at City Hall, 5801 Cavendish Blvd., before the start of the regular monthly meeting of council. The city will summarize the provisions of the draft below (see below) and answer questions.

Here is a summary of the key provisions of draft bylaw 2217 about the rules surrounding temporary car shelters:

  • No more than one on an existing, conforming driveway

  • Can only be in place between November 1 and April 15

  • Must be translucent white canvas with clear windows, fitted with a dismantable tubular metallic frame
