This is Mayor Brownstein. I want to talk for a few minutes about how we’re doing in Côte Saint-Luc. I also have two things I need your help with. Please have a paper and pen ready in order to take down some important information.
Now, as you may have read, Côte Saint-Luc ranks second on the island for the total number of cases of COVID-19.
I spoke directly this week with Dr. David Kaiser from the public health authority. Dr. Kaiser and his team know exactly what they’re doing. They have a plan. Our community is in very good hands. You need to know that.
We’re also so lucky to have Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg heading up our local health network. It was Dr. Rosenberg and his team that launched the drive-through test clinic. It was Dr. Rosenberg and his team that got the Jewish General Hospital ready for this pandemic.
We are so lucky to live in Quebec, where our federal and provincial governments have a plan. Where our Quebec doctors, nurses and public health officials are ready.
I mentioned at the start of my call that I need your help. Here it is.
I’m calling on healthy people in their 20s, 30s, or even 40s to volunteer…. right now. There are groups that are delivering baskets from food banks to people in Côte Saint-Luc. There are volunteers filling grocery orders in stores to help get the food to you faster. There are people committing acts of kindness all arounds us, much of it done privately and without fanfare. Check CoteSaintLuc.org/coronavirus for a list of organizations looking for volunteers or call City Hall at 514-485-6800.

Here’s the second thing I need your help with. Do not go to anyone’s home for a Passover seder, an Easter dinner, or any other reason. And don’t invite anyone to your home. Not for dinner. Not to clean. Not to watch your children. Just don’t do it. It is not safe. Not now.
I know some days are harder than others. But remember we are lucky to have very smart and caring people at our public health authority and at our local health network. If you can volunteer to help others—do it. Finally, remember don’t invite anyone to your home and don’t go to anyone’s home.
