Ice storm update #2

The City of Côte Saint-Luc, like the rest of the Greater Montreal area, has been significantly affected by power outages following the ice storm of April 5.

We are aware of the impact this has had on our residents and visitors, particularly as many of our residents began Passover festivities on Wednesday evening, are preparing for Easter this weekend, or are observing the month of Ramadan. The City of Côte Saint-Luc has been using available resources since Wednesday at noon to respond to the emergency to the best of its ability. We ask for your understanding and patience during this difficult time as we are receiving a very high number of requests.

In order to support our population, we have set up two locations for those who do not have electricity. Here are the locations and the services available:

  • Community and Aquatic Centre (5794 Parkhaven Ave.): Come and warm up. Use our bathrooms. Charge your cell phones and electronic devices.
  • Library (5851 Cavendish Blvd.): Come and warm up. Charge your cell phones and electronic devices. Activities and programs already scheduled have been maintained.

Call 9-1-1 to report an emergency such as flooding, falling branches, electrical/fire hazards, etc. This will ensure you obtain assistance from emergency services in a quick and concerted manner. Call Côte Saint-Luc Public Security for non-emergency situations.

As of Thursday at noon, Public Works has cleared most or all of the city-owned trees from streets and sidewalks. We will next clear trees from parks and greenspaces. Trees on private land are the responsibility of homeowners.
