LIST OF ELECTORS

READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY TO ENSURE YOU ARE ENTERED ON THE LIST OF ELECTORS

A Notice of Registration will be mailed to all addresses in Côte Saint-Luc specifying that address’ associated voting locations for Polling Day and for the Advance Polling Days.

If your name does not appear on this notice, you must make an application to the Board of Revisors, in person, in order to be entered on the list of electors. Only those entered on the list of electors may vote during this election.

In the case of an application for entry concerning a person domiciled in the territory of the municipality, the applicant must indicate the former address of the domicile of the person whose entry is requested and must present two documents, one of which indicates the name and date of birth, and the other the name and address of the domicile of the person whose entry is requested.

REVISION PERIOD

To be eligible to vote, an individual must be a “Qualified Elector” as at September 1, 2021. It is the elector’s responsibility to ensure that their name appears on the Municipal List of Electors and his/her details are correct.

To do so, a Revision Period will be held on the following dates and times, where Côte Saint-Luc residents who are qualified electors may visit, in person, to apply for entry onto the list of electors:

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF REVISION PERIOD: TO BE CONFIRMED

  • Saturday, October 16, 2021: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5:30pm
  • Monday, October 18, 2021: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 10pm
  • Tuesday, October 19, 2021: 10am to 1pm

Location of Board of Revisors:

  • Côte Saint-Luc City Hall, Council Chamber, 2nd Floor, 5801 Cavendish Blvd, Côte Saint-Luc (QC) H4W 3C3.

WHO IS A QUALIFIED ELECTOR (WHO CAN VOTE)

To vote, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Be entered on the list of electors;
  • Be 18 years of age or older on Election Day;
  • Be a Canadian citizen by September 1, 2021;
  • Not be under curatorship or have lost your election rights.

In addition, you must meet one of the following two conditions on September 1, 2021:

1. If your domicile is in the municipality, you must have been living in Québec for at least six months.

OR

2. If your domicile is not in the municipality, you must:

  • be the sole owner of an immovable in the territory of the municipality for at least 12 months, provided that you are not domiciled in the territory of the municipality and have submitted to the municipality an application for entry on the municipal list of electors; OR
  • be sole occupant of a business establishment in the territory of the municipality for at least 12 months provided that you are not the owner of an immovable elsewhere in the territory of the municipality, are not domiciled in the territory of the municipality and have submitted to the municipality an application for entry on the municipal list of electors; OR
  • be the undivided co-owner of an immovable or co-occupant of a business establishment in the territory of the municipality for at least 12 months provided that you have been designated by means of a power of attorney signed by the majority of co-owners or co-occupants who are electors of the municipality on September 1, 2021. A person who already is entitled to be entered on the list of electors in his capacity as a domiciled person, owner of an immovable or occupant of a business establishment cannot be designated co-owner. A person who already is entitled to be entered on the list of electors in his capacity as a domiciled person, sole owner of an immovable, sole occupant of a business establishment or designated co-owner of an immovable cannot be designated co-occupant.

NOTE: the sole owner of several immovables or the sole occupant of several business establishments must register at the address of the immovable or the business establishment having the greatest property or rental value.
