Here are some highlights of agenda items adopted at the first meeting of the new City Council for the term of 2025 to 2029 chaired by Mayor David Tordjman.
1. Advocating for Healthcare Access by Opposing Quebec Bill 2
To show support for residents and local healthcare professionals, City Council voted to pass a resolution opposing Quebec Bill 2 in its current form. This action is particularly critical given that Côte Saint-Luc is home to numerous healthcare facilities, including Mount Sinai Hospital and the CLSC René-Cassin. The resolution notes that several local Family Medicine Groups (GMFs) have warned that this legislation could force them to close by April 1, 2026, potentially impacting more than 400,000 patients. 2. Securing $100,000 for Enhanced Accessibility at Parkhaven Pool
The City is moving forward with a major accessibility upgrade at Parkhaven Pool, authorized by the revision of the Enabling Accessibility Fund Grant agreement. Funds will go to refurbish the Parkhaven Pool locker rooms to meet modern universal accessibility standards. 3. Improving Safety and Accessibility at the Recreation Department Building Entrance

4. Supporting Socially Responsible Janitorial Services
The City Council renewed the annual janitorial services contract for four municipal facilities (City Hall, Library, Public Works, and Public Security) with Axia Services for 2026. Axia Services is a non-profit organization focused on hiring people with disabilities, allowing the City to award the contract through mutual agreement as a social service benefit. 5. Ensuring Winter Readiness with Road Salt Procurement
To prepare for the upcoming winter season, the City Council adopted the City of Montreal Group Tender for the purchase of road salt, securing an estimated 5,000 metric tons of regular salt and 1,000 metric tons of treated salt. 6. Enhancing Tree Crew Safety and Protecting Resident Property
The City Council approved the purchase of a Hydraulic Grapple Loader and Trailer for the Arboriculture division of the Public Works Department. This specialized equipment is directly aimed at improving operational efficiency and safety. The grapple loader uses a claw attachment and 360-degree boom rotation to lift heavy logs within approximately 15 feet of the street and deposit them directly into the trailer. This eliminates the previous need for multiple staff members to manually lift heavy logs (which posed injury risks) and reduces the likelihood of damage to private property caused by dropped logs. 7. Improving User Safety at Pickleball Courts
The City is addressing a specific safety risk at the Annex pickleball courts by purchasing a safety edge covering. The existing edge surface is known to be slippery, so this purchase is a proactive step to eliminate the risk and provide a firm finish for the entire space. [VIDEO]
