Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for our area from Wednesday, March 11 to Thursday, March 12, 2026. Ice accumulation of 20–30 mm is possible over up to 24 hours, creating hazardous conditions on roads, sidewalks, and trees.
Getting Around
Avoid non-essential travel. If you must go out, wear boots with good grip and take short, careful steps. Drivers should slow down and increase following distance. Watch for falling branches and downed power lines.
Before the Storm
Charge your devices and battery packs now. Have flashlights, a battery-operated portable radio, blankets, and warm clothing within reach — homes lose heat quickly during an outage. Move your car away from trees if you can. Only use generators outdoors, well away from windows. Never use a barbecue or portable heater inside.
City Operations
City crews are ensuring that storm drains are clear of debris and will be out salting roads and sidewalks during the ice storm. Our Public Security agents and EMS first responders are also ready to respond where needed.
After the Storm
Watch for ice falling from rooftops and overhangs. Expect delays as temperatures will stay cold and ice will be slow to melt. Check for updates from Environment Canada and the City of Côte Saint-Luc.
