The City of Côte Saint-Luc had introduced a new financial assistance program to support residents who chose reusable diapers and other products. Through this initiative, residents can apply for a one-time grant of up to $50 to help cover the cost.
Why are we doing this?
Each year, thousands of disposable hygiene products end up in landfills, where they take decades—sometimes centuries—to decompose. A single child can use up to 6,000 disposable diapers before being toilet trained, contributing significantly to household waste. By choosing reusable alternatives, families can dramatically reduce waste while also saving money in the long term. This program helps ease the initial cost of making that sustainable switch.
What’s covered?
Purchases made between January 1 and December 1, 2025 are eligible. The grant applies to:
- Reusable cloth diapers
- Menstrual cups
- Washable menstrual panties
- Washable menstrual underwear and pads
- Washable inserts
- Menstrual swimwear and compatible absorbent inserts
Residents may claim 50% of their total invoice, up to a maximum of $50 per household per year. Funds are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
