The Art Gallery at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is excited to announce its new Submission Guidelines for artists interested in exhibiting their work. As a public resource dedicated to enriching the community through art, the Art Gallery is narrowing its mandate to focus on local artists while at the same time fostering art appreciation within the community.
The Art Gallery has long been a cultural hub for the City of Côte Saint-Luc, showcasing a wide variety of art forms, including painting, photography, sculpture, and textile art. These new submission guidelines are designed to implement a seamless application process and ensure that the exhibitions reflect a diverse range of high-quality, thought-provoking work that aligns with the library’s mission and values.
Submission Details
The library will be accepting submissions for the 2025 -2026 exhibit season between March 15 and May 1. To be considered, proposals must be submitted online through the Art Gallery page on our website and include:
- A biography outlining the artist’s background and past exhibits
- A list of the artworks to be displayed, including dimensions
- Three high-resolution photos of the proposed artwork
- An artist statement
- A link to the artist’s online presence (e.g., website or social media)
The selection process will be conducted by the Art Gallery Committee, which will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, originality, diversity in aesthetic practices, and suitability for the library’s environment. The Art Gallery Committee’s decisions are final.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To be eligible for submission, artists must be residents of Côte Saint-Luc, a library member, or have ties to the community. Priority will be given to local artists, but applicants from other areas may be considered if space permits. Artists who have exhibited at the Art Gallery in the last five years are not eligible.
The selection of artists will be based on several key criteria, including:
- Artistic excellence and professionalism
- Originality, relevance, and research
- Compatibility with the Library’s vision and values
- Suitability for the gallery space and public library environment
Artists whose submissions are accepted will be notified by June 1.
