Côte Saint-Luc athletes shine at the 2025 Jeux de Montréal

PRESS RELEASE

Côte Saint-Luc, April 16, 2025 – The City of Côte Saint-Luc congratulates the performance of its young athletes at the 2025 Jeux de Montréal, held from April 2 to 6, 2025.

Participants from local fencing, swimming, and gymnastics clubs showcased their talent, dedication, and team spirit across multiple events, earning a remarkable haul of medals and representing their city with pride.

About the Jeux de Montréal

Les Jeux de Montréal are the first competitive sports events for thousands of young Montrealers aged 6 to 12. This event brings together several thousand young people (participation in qualifications and finals) and spectators. It presents 16 sports on 11 competition sites.

Founded and supported by la Ville de Montréal since 1978, les Jeux de Montréal are a legacy of the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. The vision of the Montreal Games is to inspire and inspire young people to pursue physical activity and a healthy and active lifestyle.

CSLA Swim Team: Second Overall Finish

With 30 athletes in competition, the CSLA Swim Team earned an impressive second place overall, just behind CDN–NDG. The team captured a total of 16 medals:

– Gold: 4

– Lielle Ben-Eli – 50m Backstroke

– Michael Donciu – 50m Backstroke

– Sebastian Morrison – 50m Breaststroke

– Stefan Popescu Netea – 50m Breaststroke

– Men’s 4x50m Freestyle Relay (Sebastian Morrison x2, Daniel Wang, Felix Kuchinsky)

Bronze Medalists

– Maya Wyse – 100m IM & 50m Freestyle

– Ingrid Sfestarof – 100m IM & 50m Breaststroke

– Isca Grabowiecka – 50m Fly

– Kasra Riazi – 50m Freestyle

– Daniel Wang – 100m IM

Fencing

Based out of the West End Gym on Mackle Road, Escrime Elite Montreal had a strong showing under the leadership of coach Patrick Jennings:

U9 Mixed Sabre

– Runyu Zhang – Gold

– Sophia Strashkin – Silver

– Tim Zhenyret – Bronze

– Loïc Biron – 8th

U11 Women’s Sabre

– Julia Gorobets – Gold

– Augusta Kau – Bronze

U11 Men’s Sabre

– Mark Lam – Gold

– Azad Aghazarian – Silver

– Ziyang Qi – 7th

– Romain Charron – 8th

“The kids had a great day and they all did really well. We are very proud of them,” said coach Patrick Jennings.

Artistic Gymnastics

Eight young gymnasts from Académie de gymnastique de Montréal (Quartier Cavendish) proudly represented Côte Saint-Luc. The team earned a bronze medal and placed 8th overall.
