The Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, marking six decades of service, learning, creativity, and connection in the community.
Under the theme “Turning 60 Never Looked So Good,” the Library is recognizing both its history and its continued role as a vibrant public space for residents of all ages.
Founded in 1966 by librarian Eleanor London, the Library first operated at the Côte Saint-Luc Shopping Centre before moving into its current facility in 1986 at 5851 Cavendish Boulevard, where it shares a building with City Hall.
60th Anniversary Celebration Event
The highlight of the anniversary year will be a public birthday party on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
The event will begin with a family-friendly circus performance in Ashkelon Gardens featuring Nacho Con Salsa as part of the City’s Summer in the City programming. In case of rain, activities will move indoors to the Harold Greenspon Auditorium.
Following the performance, the celebration will continue in the Max Margles Children’s Library with:
- Face painting
- A photo booth
- Music and interactive activities with La La Lesley
- Treats and family activities
A Library That Serves and Connects
The Library continues to play a central role in the community. In 2025, it received a 96 percent rating for outstanding service from the Association des bibliothèques publiques du Québec, reflecting its strong performance and impact.
Programming remains a cornerstone of its work, with lectures, author talks, book clubs, film screenings, and children’s activities offered year-round. The Library also provides services that go beyond traditional programming, including outreach to isolated residents, home delivery of materials, and support for seniors navigating health and social services.
In 2025, staff made over 5,100 care calls and completed 260 home deliveries, helping ensure access for residents who are unable to visit the Library in person.

As the Library enters its seventh decade, the City of Côte Saint-Luc recognizes the contributions of staff, volunteers, partners, and generations of residents who have supported and shaped the institution. The anniversary celebration reflects both a proud history and a continued commitment to innovation, accessibility, and community connection.
