Heywood Rd. westbound lanes will be closed between Cavendish Blvd. and Kellert Ave. starting Monday, September 22, 2025. The reason is that Hydro-Québec is upgrading the electrical system in the area.
Please note that the planned lane reduction on Cavendish Blvd. southbound has been delayed until October.
The work on Heywood Rd. will run from September 22 to approximately February 27, 2026. Work will be done weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm, with occasional weekend work.
Hydro-Québec has confirmed the following to the City:
- Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.
- Access to Mt. Sinai Hospital from the overpass and from Heywood Rd. eastbound will remain open.
- Signal workers will direct traffic as needed.
- The westbound sidewalk on Heywood Road will be closed to pedestrians.
- No power outages are planned or expected due to the work.
- On-street parking spaces on Heywood Rd. will be lost during the work.
As this project affects major streets affecting many motorists, the City will be conducting daily visits to the site to ensure that the sub-contractors hired by Hydro-Québec respect the plan and that traffic is flowing.
