Every year as temperatures rise and fall, potholes form quickly on our roads. Our Public Works crews repair them throughout the winter and into the spring. Work never stops.
We use two methods depending on the weather.
- Cold patch: When temperatures are below freezing or the asphalt plants are closed, crews use cold patch to fill potholes. This material lets us respond fast and keep roads safe even in the middle of winter.
- Hot asphalt: As soon as weather conditions allow and asphalt plants reopen, we switch to hot asphalt. This creates a stronger and longer‑lasting repair.
How we track potholes
Crews identify potholes during regular patrols, and we also respond to reports from residents and our staff. This helps us move quickly and make sure no area is missed.
With the freeze‑thaw cycle, we know potholes can appear overnight. Our teams are working continuously to keep up. Residents can help by reporting potholes at [email protected] and we will respond as quickly as possible.
