Swimming lessons

Our swimming lessons follow the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program and are designed for babies, children, teens, and adults.

Swim skills assessment is required. It will take between 10 and 15 minutes.

Parent and Tot

30-minute classes

Baby Swim

Family swim training helps parents become more comfortable and confident in the water. Learn to work independently with your baby through the early ages and stages of swimming.

Parent and Tot

Ages 4 months to 3 years
A playful introduction to water for babies and toddlers with their caregivers. Focuses on building water confidence, safety awareness, and early movement skills

Parent and Tot 1

4 – 12 months (child must be able to hold up their head)
Water entry with assistance, floating with support, gentle splashing, games and songs to encourage comfort.

Parent and Tot 2

12 – 24 months
Assisted submersion, kicking, reaching, and supported glides

Parent and Tot 3

2 – 3 years
Independent water entries, blowing bubbles, floating with minimal support, and basic arm and leg movements.


Preschool level

30-minute classes

Preschool

Ages 3 to 5 years
Designed to develop independence, safety, and foundational swimming skills through fun and structured activities.

Preschool 1 with Guardian

Prerequisite: Age: 3 – 5 years
Child is gradually learning to be in the water without the guardian. What they’ll learn: Safe water entries and exits, jumping into chest-deep water, assisted front and back floats and glides, submerging the head, and blowing bubbles.

Preschool 1

Prerequisite: Age: 3 – 5 years
What they’ll learn: Safe water entries and exits, jumping into chest-deep water, assisted front and back floats and glides, submerging the head, and blowing bubbles.

Preschool 2

Prerequisite: Preschool 1 or equivalent
What they’ll learn: Submerging and exhaling underwater, unassisted glides with and without lifejacket, front and back floats.

Preschool 3

Prerequisite: Preschool 2 or equivalent
What they’ll learn: Retrieving objects from waist-deep water, kicking and gliding on front and back, increased independence.

Preschool 4

Prerequisite: Preschool 3 or equivalent
What they’ll learn: Swimming and kicking unassisted for 7 m, gliding on their side for 3 m, and an introduction to treading water.

Preschool 5

Prerequisite: Preschool 4 or equivalent
What they’ll learn: Treading water for 10 seconds, 5m front and back crawl, whip kick practice, increased endurance.


6 to 12 yrs

Swimmer level

Swimmer 1 to 2: 30-minute classes.
Swimmer 3 to 6: 45-minute classes.

Swimmer 1

Prerequisite: Age: 6 – 12 years
What they’ll learn: Safe entries/exits, submersion, breath control, front/back floats and glides, 5m front and back swims.

Swimmer 2

Prerequisite: Swimmer 1
What they’ll learn: Deep water entries, treading water for 15 seconds, 10m front and back crawl, flutter kick on back.

Swimmer 3

Prerequisite: Swimmer 2
What they’ll learn: Front crawl with side breathing, 15m swims, whip kick on front, kneeling dives, intro to hand sculling.

Swimmer 4

Prerequisite: Swimmer 3
What they’ll learn: 25m front and back crawl, breaststroke kick, diving into deep water, treading water for 1 minute.

Swimmer 5

Prerequisite: Swimmer 4
What they’ll learn: 50m swims, breaststroke arms and breathing, eggbeater kick, surface dives, intro to headup swimming.

Swimmer 6

Prerequisite: Swimmer 5
What they’ll learn: 100m continuous swim (front crawl and back crawl), refined strokes, advanced entries and surface dives, 45-second eggbeater without arms, intro to rescue techniques.


Canadian Swim Patrol Program

Ce programme permet de perfectionner les styles de nage, d’acquérir des compétences en sauvetage et des notions de premiers soins. C’est l’étape idéale après le niveau Nageur 6 et une excellente préparation pour les niveaux Étoile de bronze et Médaille de bronze.

Classes range from 45 to 75 minutes, depending on the session duration.

Swimmer 7—Rookie Patrol

Prerequisite: 8 – 12 yrs, Swimmer 6
Stroke development, basic first aid, and water safety awareness.
Swimming: 50m front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke; 100m timed swim; 350m endurance workouts Lifesaving Skills: 25m obstacle swim, 15m object carry, head-up swimming, surface dives. Assessment of conscious victims, EMS activation, treatment for external bleeding. Recognition of weak/non-swimmers, throwing assists, basic victim simulation. Water Smart®: Personal responsibility and risk awareness in aquatic environments.

Swimmer 8—Ranger Patrol

Prerequisite: Swimmer 7 (Rookie Patrol)
Advanced stroke technique, rescue skills, and unconscious victim care.
Swimming: 75m swims of each stroke; 200m timed swim; lifesaving medley. 600m workouts to build strength and stamina, Lifesaving Skills: Timed object support, rescue with buoyant aid. Defensive techniques, victim approach and contact, use of buoyant aids. Assessment of unconscious victims, treatment for shock, obstructed airway procedures.

Swimmer 9—Star Patrol

Prerequisite: Swimmer 8 (Ranger Patrol)
Lifesaving readiness, endurance, and complex rescue scenarios. Swimming: 100m of each stroke; 300m timed swim; 600m endurance workouts. Lifesaving Skills: 25m object carry, underwater swim, advanced surface support. Victim removals, shallow water support, rollover techniques, complex scenarios. Bone/joint injuries, respiratory emergencies (asthma, allergic reactions). Leadership: Emphasis on judgment, decision-making, and teamwork.

Fitness Swimmer

Prerequisite: 8 – 12 yrs, able to swim 25 m without stopping
A non-competitive program focused on personal fitness, endurance, and stroke efficiency. Ideal for swimmers looking to stay active and improve technique. Includes interval training, timed swims, stroke drills, and personal goal setting.


Otterball

Otterball

Prerequisite: Age: 8-12, continuously swim 25m
This high-energy program keeps them moving, building fitness, and boosting swim skills through fast-paced, water-polo–style games. They’ll level up with passing, shooting, treading and team-strategy challenges that build confidence and strong water safety habits.


13 yrs + (teens and adults)

45-minutes classes

A flexible program for adults of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced swimmers looking to improve technique and fitness.

Level 1

Prerequisite: 13 years
What you’ll learn: Water comfort, breath control, floats, glides, basic front and back swim techniques.

Level 2

Prerequisite: Adult 1 or equivalent
What you’ll learn: 10 – 15m swims, treading water, front crawl with breathing, back crawl, whip kick.

Level 3

Prerequisite: Adult 2 or equivalent
What you’ll learn: 25 – 50m swims, stroke refinement, endurance training, intro to breaststroke and dives.

Teen—Level 1 (formerly Learn to Swim)

This course is for individuals ages 13 – 14. This program is for teens looking to immerse themselves and gain confidence to swim in deep water. Participants set their own goals to develop confidence.

Teen—Fitness Swimmer

Prerequisite: Age: 13 – 17, Swimmer 4 or 150m endurance swim
Ce cours s’adresse aux personnes âgées de 13 à 17 ans. Il met l’accent sur le développement des mouvements et des compétences en natation et promeut un mode de vie plus sain. Les participants travaillent en étroite collaboration avec le moniteur pour fixer et atteindre des objectifs personnels. Doit être à l’aise en eau profonde.

Teen—Otterball

Prerequisite: Age: 13 – 17
A high-energy, water polo-inspired program that keeps swimmers moving while building fitness, teamwork, and aquatic skills through fast-paced games and activities.
