How to join vCOP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
VCOP is always looking for new members to join their team. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and reside, work or have a vested interest in C\u00f4te Saint-Luc. Since some patrol activities can be physically demanding, volunteers must be in good physical condition. They must pass a security check, have good interpersonal and communication skills, possess a positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members are required to commit to a minimum of six hours of patrolling each month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a one-time membership fee of $75, which is used to defray the costs of uniforms and accessories. Your cheque, payable to the City of C\u00f4te Saint-Luc, must accompany the completed application form.<\/p>\n\n\n\nDownload the vCOP application form<\/a>\n\n\n\nPDF, 106 KB<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volunteer training<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
All members of C\u00f4te Saint-Luc’s Citizens on Patrol volunteer program are required to take the basic training course, which comprises seven modules. Here’s an idea of the topics covered during training:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n- Sense of observation and skills to develop for effective patrolling;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Incident response protocols;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Team relay procedures;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Personal safety;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Municipal by-laws;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Crime prevention;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- First aid, CPR and defibrillation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Training is provided by volunteers, as well as representatives of local law enforcement, EMS and Fire Protection, whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
