The celebrated mid-century American painter loved movies and his work was often inspired by them; but the influence was not one-way and many important filmmakers, such as Alfred Hitchcock and Terrence Malick, were themselves influenced by Hopper. This lecture/presentation will highlight the complex but fertile interrelationship of painting and cinema as seen through Hopper’s work.
