Assistant City Clerk

The City of Côte Saint-Luc is a dynamic municipality on the island of Montreal with a population of approximately 33 000. The City prides itself on providing the highest level of services to its residents at a reasonable cost. The City is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual to join its management team as the Assistant City Clerk. Under the direction of the Co-City Manager, the Assistant City-Clerk will provide high-level legal support, performing a variety of technical functions as well as other related duties as assigned.



Clerk’s duties:

  • Drafting of the Minutes
  • Translation
  • Elections
  • Assisting and coordinating with the various departments on different legal issues that they are experiencing
  • Assist various departments on questions related to resolutions
  • Access to information requests

Reports concerning a claim or collection

  • Assists employees in properly drafting reports in order to best protect the City’s legal interests focusing on training new employees


  • Issues recommendations to the Director of Legal Services and City Clerk to settle or deny a claim; and
  • Ensures that a proper follow-up occurs with City/Contractors’ insurers



  • Excellent sense of time-management
  • Ability to motivate surrounding staff members to produce accurate information and documentation
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and independent judgment
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate and write in both English and French



  • Law degree from an accredited university
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience which demonstrate the ability to perform the duties as described.
  • Experience in a public agency (an asset)
  • Be a member in good standing with the Barreau du Québec

You may be required to pass an exam of competences in language and writing proficiency as well as psychometric exam.
