Junior Human Resources Advisor

The city of Côte Saint-Luc is a dynamic municipality on the island of Montreal with a population of approximately 33 000. The city prides itself on providing the highest level of services to its residents at a reasonable cost.  We are currently seeking to hire a Junior Human Resources Advisor.

Role: Under the authority of the Human Resources Manager, the employee provides support to the City’s Human Resources activities.

Main responsibilities: 

Occupational health and Safety 

  • Responds quickly and effectively to health and safety requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist the health and safety committees for all City employees
  • Performs health and safety checks and makes recommendations
  • Implements and maintains the prevention program, policies, procedures, and documentation related to occupational health and safety and updates them as required by legislative amendments
  • Coordinates and delivers monthly health and safety training to educate employees on safe work practices or legislative changes
  • Acts as a leader to promote safe behaviors
  • Manage the disability insurance claims and work injury claims as well as follow-up with employees, managers and external actors


  • Assists managers in the complete staffing process
  • Writes, modifies and translates job descriptions
  • Post job descriptions and search for potential candidates
  • Sort the applications
  • Conduct telephone interviews and face-to-face interviews
  • Assists the manager in the implementation of the Equal Access to Employment Program

The employee will be asked to support the human resources team in the various mandates and projects entrusted to the department. 

Qualifications and education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations
  • Certificate in health and safety at work, an asset
  • Member of the Order of Certified Human Resources Advisors, an asset
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in human resources and health and safety at work
  • Competencies in recognition, evaluation and risk control
  • Occupational health and safety skills, knowledge of CNESST laws and policies
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and high sense of priorities
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing, in English and French
  • Ability to adapt, sense of initiative and ability to work in a team
  • Discretion, tact and impartiality
