Getting into the act: Côte Saint-Luc public library launches theatre club

Côte Saint-Luc, September 24, 2010 – The Côte Saint-Luc library will launch a Theatre Club this fall for members who want to attend shows at the Centaur Theatre in a group.

To join the club, members of the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library must purchase a Centaur Theatre season pass at the circulation desk of the library. Club members will then receive free, round-trip transportation to the Centaur Theatre in Old Montreal during the scheduled outings.

“This new Theatre Club will expand cultural opportunities beyond the walls of the library,” said Councillor Sam Goldbloom, the council member responsible for library and culture.

The season pass will include one extra “bring a friend” ticket, to be used for the play of your choice. One of the most popular choices is likely to be the April production of Schwartz’s, the Musical, written by Bowser and Blue.

The deadline to join the Theatre Club is Monday, October 4, 2010. The library needs at least 15 participants in order to be able to offer this service. The group will watch Wednesday afternoon matinée performances.

“Thanks to our partnership with the Centaur Theatre, library members who cannot join our Theatre Club can still experience live theatre on their own and benefit from a 15 percent discount on regular tickets,” Councillor Goldbloom said. “Library members should mention their Côte Saint-Luc library card number when buying tickets by phone.”

The Centaur Theatre box office telephone number is 514-288-3161.
