Inspired baroque: Arion Ensemble performs a classical concert in Côte Saint-Luc

Côte Saint-Luc, October 7, 2010 – The Arion Ensemble will perform a live concert in Côte Saint-Luc on Wednesday, October 13 at 7pm at City Hall, 5801 Cavendish Blvd.

This 10-person baroque ensemble will perform works from Fasch and Telemann on period instruments that include winds, strings and a harpsichord. Hailed by critics for their clarity and gusto as well as for their expressive performances, Arion promises to entertain and delight.

Arion has toured Europe, Asia and North America, and has produced more than 25 CDs.

Baroque music describes a style of European classical music approximately extending from 1600 to 1750. The term was originally used to describe the highly decorated style of 18th century religious and public architecture in Italy. Later, the name came to be applied also the music of this era.

Tickets bought ahead of time are $5 and are available at the main circulation desk of the library. The cost is $7 on the day of the concert.
