The Sounds of Jazz this June in Côte Saint-Luc

Min Rager concertCôte Saint-Luc, June 5, 2012 – A lecture on Cole Porter with live music and a jazz concert featuring tributes to John Coltrane and Miles Davis will be spotlighted this month at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library.

On Wednesday, June 20 at 2 pm music librarian Farah Mohammed will discuss the life of one of America’s greatest songbook composers, Cole Porter, which will include live performances by the library’s own Eden Pelletier. This event is free of charge.

On Thursday, June 28 at 7 pm, piano virtuoso Min Rager will perform music from her 2009 modern jazz album First Steps. She will be joined by other musicians in a quintet featuring piano, alto  saxophone, trombone, double bass and drums. Alternating blues, ballads, hard bop and bossa nova, Min Rager will pay tribute to saxophonist John Coltrane, and trumpeter Miles Davis. Tickets cost $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the concert and can be purchased at the library’s main circulation desk.

“This is a great opportunity to broaden your musical horizons and hear some fabulous live music,” said Library Director Janine West.
