Digital magazines arrive in Côte Saint-Luc

Côte Saint-Luc, April 29, 2014 – On May 8, 2014 the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library, in partnership with RBdigital, will launch Zinio for Libraries, a collection of digital magazines.

From the Library’s website, members will have unlimited access to search and download the complete digital copy of a magazine. Zinio’s publications can be viewed on most Internet-enabled devices such as (Android, iPhone, iPad) as well as a Mac or PC.

Their unique technology digitally recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures and features intuitive navigation, keyword article search and interactive elements such as audio and video. Using only their library card and email account, members will be able to access popular titles such as Rolling Stone, Shape, Men’s Health, PC World, Popular Science, andPrevention. Currently, the library subscribes to approximately 20 titles.

Multiple readers can download the same content simultaneously. Once on a device or computer, it remains there until the next time you want to consult it.

According to Janine West, Library Director, “While print magazines are still a dominant force in the market place, digital is quickly catching up.  Many people are already comfortable with reading e-books on their tablets and devices. The Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is excited to be able to provide this additional service to its increasingly tech-savy public”.
