The Big Drop Off

Household Hazardous Collection Day is no longer just for household hazardous waste. Come to The Big Drop-Off on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Public Works Yard (7001 Mackle) and bring us your e-waste, polystyrene (plastic #6) and documents to be shredded. The following items can be dropped off at the Public Works:

Hazardous household waste

  • Spray cans
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Propane tanks and cylinders
  • Car batteries
  • Used motor oil and vegetable oil
  • Fertilizers 
  • Paint 
  • Batteries
  • Pool chemicals
  • Household cleaning products

Electronic waste: 

  • Computers
  • Cellular devices and non-cellular phones
  • Audio systems
  • Keyboards and computer mouse
  • Audio/visual systems

Polystyrene (plastic #6): 

  • Thin styrofoam products eg. trays to hold meat and fruit
  • Expanded polystyrene eg. cups for hot drinks and protective packaging
  • Rigid polystyrene eg. CD and DVD cases, single use plates and cutlery, flower pots,  single serve yogurt containers
  • Please wash all items prior to dropping them off. 

Documents to be shredded: 

  • Each address is allowed 3 “banker” boxes (12 x 10 x 15 in).
  • Small attachments such as paper clips are accepted.
  • Binders are not accepted.
  • Proof of residence required.
