Avian influenza

Since December 20, 2021, highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza has been detected in wild birds in several Canadian provinces and in the United States. Farmed birds were declared positive subsequently. In Québec, the presence of the virus was confirmed on April 1, 2022, in wild birds. On April 12, 2022, a first flock of poultry was declared positive, in the Estrie region.

Report sick or dead wild birds immediately by calling 1 877 346‑6763. Avoid approaching or handling these animals while awaiting instructions.
