Côte Saint-Luc and union representing white collar employees sign collective agreement

The City of Côte Saint-Luc and the Syndicat des fonctionnaires municipaux de Montréal (SCFP, local 429), the labour union representing Côte Saint-Luc white collar employees, signed a new collective agreement on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. The new collective agreement is valid until December 31, 2026.

Depending on the season, between 150 and 170 white collar employees are employed by Côte Saint-Luc. White collar employees perform jobs such as office support staff, public security agents, dispatchers, building inspectors, purchasers, front counter service providers, archivists and library clerks.

“The collective agreement we negotiated ensures a favourable outcome for Côte Saint-Luc and its white-collar employees. We came to important agreements on issues, such as making positions more equitable. For instance, lifeguards our indoor and outdoor pools will earn the same. As always, Côte Saint-Luc ensured that both the French and English versions of the agreement are official. This allows staff to read the agreement in their preferred language and speaks to the importance of bilingualism in Côte Saint-Luc. I want to thank our lead negotiator Associate City Manager and HR Director Nadia Di Furia, as well as General Counsel Andrea Charon, and Parks and Recreation Director Cornelia Ziga.” – Mitchell Brownstein, Mayor

“The negotiations went extremely well and would have been signed a year ago, however the pandemic halted everything. Negotiations resumed remotely in early 2021. The new agreement has made things clearer. I am proud of the work done by our team and grateful for the professionalism of the white-collar union. The two sides worked together for the success of the employees, which will ultimately benefit our residents.” – Jonathan Shecter, City Manager
