Merchant of the month: Nemes Ortho

A new orthodontist clinic has opened on The Avenue.

It has been five years since residents began occupying the building right across the street from the side entrance of Quartier Cavendish. The ground floor has always been zoned commercial and the first commercial tenant have moved in. Welcome to Nemes Ortho, operated by lifelong Côte Saint-Luc resident Dr. Jordan Nemes.

Dr. Nemes is no stranger to the area, his parents, Sid and Susie, own J & R Kosher at Quartier Cavendish. “I worked there growing up,” said Dr. Nemes. “Yes, I thought about going into the family business. I am happy with my career choice.”

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from McGill University, Dr. Nemes received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from NYU’s College of Dentistry. Dr. Nemes then completed a multidisciplinary general practice residency program at the Jewish General Hospital (McGill University) where he received advanced dental training in various dental specialties and emergency care. Nemes Ortho previously operated at Decarie Square.

Councillor Mike Cohen presided over a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new business. Besides his parents, wife, daughter and staff, Dr. Nemes was joined by Samantha Johnpillai and Marc Talbot from the firm of Derrig Talbot, the contractors of this state of the art clinic.
