The Côte Saint-Luc Men’s Club Invitational, with the participation of the Mayor and City Council, will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Meadowbrook Golf Course. In the event of rain, it will be held on August 13. The event is open to all.
This event takes the place of the Côte Saint-Luc Golf Classic, which was held for the past 43 summers. The organizing committee consists of Mark Kotler, Mannie Young, Councillors Mike Cohen, Lior Azerad and Dida Berku, as well as Cornelia Ziga, Irene Lahaie and Moe Giobbi.
Registration for individuals or foursomes begins on Tuesday, June 18 at the Côte Saint-Luc Aquatic and Community Centre (5794 Parkhaven Ave.).
The price to register is $29, for nine holes of golf, as well as an invitation for two to attend a special reception on Monday, September 30 at the Aquatic and Community Centre for the presentation of the awards and the cheque unveiling for the Recreation Bursary Fund. This event will be held in conjunction with the annual Maison Fleuries Awards. Golfers will be responsible for reserving their own electric cart ($25 for two to share) or hand carts ($5) from the Meadowbrook Golf Club, based on availability.
In the event of a rain date, golfers who cannot play on the rain date will be able to request a refund (city refund policy applies).
Each Tuesday during the summer, Kotler and Young gather Côte Saint-Luc Men’s Club members to play nine holes of golf. On this occasion, the “invitation” will be extended to elected officials, representatives from the business community and others interested in playing.
Official sponsors will be real estate agents Marc Ezerzer and Hagai Brener from Vantage Mortgage & Realty Group and Philippe Mamane, a wealth management advisor at Assante Wealth Management. Proceeds from the event will go to the Recreation Bursary Fund, which assists parents with financial difficulties and children with special needs in registering for specific programs they might otherwise not be able to afford.
The team from Pierre Brunet’s McDonald’s franchise at the Côte St. Luc Shopping Centre will welcome golfers as they get set to tee off with coffee and danishes. There will be trophies up for grabs for the longest drive and closest to the pin (male and female categories). Longtime local sportsman and volunteer Eli “Buddy” Manis will be the special honoree.
